The most commonly taken route to coming to Australia as a tourist is through the Tourist stream. There are two types of Tourist visas and they are as follows:

This visa stream allows you to visit Australia as a tourist, go on a cruise or to see friends and family.

A stay of 3, 6 or 12 months may be granted. The cost of the application starts from AUD 145.

Please note that processing time varies from 6 to 9 months, so please ensure you plan your travels accordingly. You may also be allowed to volunteer with this visa, however, this is subject to the visa conditions.

  1. Tourist stream: Visitor Visa Subclass 600 (apply inside Australia)

With this visa stream, you can visit Australia as a tourist, see family and friends and visit for purposes other than business or medical treatment. However, the applicant must be in Australia when they apply and when a decision is granted on the visa.

This visa is suitable in case the applicant wants to stay longer in Australia but has a visa which is expiring.

A stay of up to 12 months may be granted.

The cost of the application starts from AUD365.

Please note that processing time varies from 6 to 9 months, so please ensure you lodge your application well before the timeline of your current visa’s expiry date. You may also be allowed to volunteer with this visa, however, this is subject to the visa conditions.

Australia is home to students from many countries. Under the student visa, the applicant must 6 years of age or older and can stay for the duration of the course. The applicant must also enrolled in a full-time course at a recognised educational institution.
